1. The act of persevering; persistence in anything
undertaken; continued pursuit or prosecution of any
business, or enterprise begun. ``The king-becoming graces
. . . perseverance, mercy, lowliness.'' --Shak.

3. (Theol.) Continuance in a state of grace until it is
