A class of flowerless plants, embracing ferns, horsetails,
club mosses, quillworts, and other like plants. See the Note
under Cryptogamia. -- Pter"i*do*phyte`, n.
Note: This is a modern term, devised to replace the older
ones acrogens and vascular Cryptogamia.
